McCracken Symphonic Band to Perform at Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival

The McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band has recently been invited to perform at the Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival (CICBF) to be held at Hersey High School on April 4, 2009.  The festival takes place between 1:00p and 9:00p.

In only a few short years, CICBF has grown into one of the premier high school band festivals in the Chicago area.  We’re very excited to join the Hersey High School feeder schools as the only middle schools to participate in this wonderful festival.

The Symphonic Band will not be participating in the IGSMA State Contest/Festival on April 25 this year.  This does not affect the 7th and 8th Grade Swing Choirs Participation in the IGSMA State Contest.

Inauguration Tuesday

It’s wonderful that at another momentous and historic occasion, the arts and music have played a critical role. From the Marine Band, Aretha Franklin, Elizabeth Alexander’s Poem, the chamber work by John Williams, to the dozens of marching bands who participated in the Inaugural Parade, the Art’s pressence was only matched by President Obama himself.
