Cleveland Symphonic Winds (Frederick Fennell)

Another Frederick Fennell album that just shines throughout.

Paradigm Paradigm
Cincinnati Wind Symphony (Eugene Corporon)

Maybe not since the original Eastman Wind Ensemble recordings has there been a more significant recording project of wind repertoire. Each of the 30 or so recordings (I do own almost all of them, plus have the complete set for our listening library at school), made with the Cincinnati Wind Symphony and University of North Texas Wind Symphony are exceptional. Of the Cincinnati recordings, Paradigm is my favorite. Many of the the earlier recordings in the series have recently be remastered.

Bells for Stokowski Bells for Stokowski
University of Texas Wind Ensemble (Jerry Junkin)
Reference Recordings

This is one of the best band CDs I've purchased in a long time. The performance of Susato's Danserye (arranged by Patrick Dunnigan) is wonderful. Junkin's interpretation of the English Folk Song Suite is quite refreshing compared to other recordings which all tend to sound very similar to each other.

Grainger, Pesichetti... Grainger, Pesichetti...
Eastman Wind Ensemble

This recording makes my list over the other Eastman Wind Ensemble recordings simply because of Lincolnshire Posy.

Winds of Nagual Winds of Nagual
Northwestern University Wind Ensemble (Mallory Thompson)
Summit Records

This is an absolutely amazing recording of material that the Northwestern Wind Ensemble performed at the CBDNA National Conference a few years ago. Great music, performed brilliantly.

Recollections Recollections
North Texas Wind Symphony (Eugene Corporon)

As with the Cincinnati recordings, I believe the recordings Eugene Corporon has done with the North Texas Wind Symphony to be very significant to our profession...not only the work of the Klavier Wind Project, but especially their recordings of grade 2 and 3 works through the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series.

Garden of Dreams Garden of Dreams
Dallas Wind Symphony (Jerry Junkin)
Reference Recordings

This marvelous new recording of three David Maslanka masterworks by arguably this country's premier professional wind band is a must have for all band directors.
